Awkward expression + dressing gown in background = perfect selfie, right?
Well, I must be mad. After blogging every day in May - and nearly having a breakdown in the process - I'm not sure what has possessed me to sign up for Blog Every Day in November. Actually, I am. Since my boyfriend moved back to the UK in September, my time for blogging has become ever-more squeezed, and so I wanted to try something that would shift my focus back onto the blog for a while. November is a crazy busy month at school and at home, so I think it's highly likely that I'll fail in the challenge but hey, I said that in May and surprised myself! So, a few facts about me...
1. I'm an English teacher in a middle school in Leicestershire.
2. I'm a queer feminist, increasingly radically so.
3. I'm truly, madly, deeply (and annoyingly) in love with my boyfriend of one year, after being single for ten (yes TEN!) years. So I think I'm allowed the annoying bit. We've also just spent eight months living in different countries.
4. I'm a reader before all else. Music, crafts, cooking, baking... I love them all, but reading and books are an essential part of me.
5. My mum is gay, so when I talk about my step-mum on here, it's her partner not my dad's (he also has a partner, but I think she'd be pretty horrified if I referred to her as my step-mum!).
6. I like polka dots, things with birds on them, brogues, Breton tops, and all of those other hipster blogger cliches.
7. My alarm goes off at 6.20 every morning and I will never get used to it. I'm just not a morning person.
8. I'm pretty sure I don't ever want children.
9. My goal is to clear my debts so I can take a career break and return to uni to read for a Masters in Gender Studies...
10. ... BUT my love of travel seems to foil that whole 'debt-free' plan every time I try.
The debt-free dream! Good luck with that and good luck with #BEDN. I'm not sure I'll ever be debt free haha!!
ReplyDeleteI'd be debt free... if only I didn't like spending money so very much!
DeleteHi! I'm with you on the debts, love of books and thought on kids :) Looking forward to reading more from you during #BEDN !
ReplyDeleteI'm really fascinated by how many bloggers share my thoughts on kids. When I did a post about not wanting them, the majority of comments were, "yep me too". Yet I don't know anyone who feels like me IRL.
DeleteMy alarm goes off at exactly the same time! I hope you get to do the gender studies MA, I'm doing a post grad in gender history.
ReplyDeleteWith you on the debt thing! That is a perfect bedroom selfie btw ;-)
ReplyDeleteGetting used to that morning alarm is impossible I tell you. Impossible.
ReplyDeleteGood to see you're on board as well! It's great to see fellow BEDM-ers join in again as well. We'll all do great in our own ways ;)
ReplyDeleteGood Luck with BEDN ! Not felt motivated enough this time but still looking fwd to reading lots of fab posts.:)
ReplyDeleteHello fellow #BEDN-er!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the rest of your posts! :-) x
I'm just catching up on blog reading! What a great introduction - even having followed your blog for a good while there's details here I hadn't picked up on...
ReplyDeleteLike the haircut by the way! B x
6.20 every morning?!?! Getting up at 7 is tough enough for me! Looking forward to reading the rest of your #BEDNs! x
ReplyDeleteOoh, I am so glad I clicked on your BEDN link, you seem just my kind of person! I am also an avid reader, teacher, lover of music, crafter and lover of vintage dresses!!! (read your profile!) It is very nice to meet you!
ReplyDeleteUgrh, I hate alarm clocks-my husband's one goes off at that time every morning too and he NEVER gets up or responds to it. It falls on me to poke him, keep saying what the time is and get him up, despite the fact I REALLY don't want to!! My alarm is set for 6.50!x
